In a world forever changed by corporate warfare, where even the government and religious powers bow to the will of mass media, a handful of hackers and urbanite rebels plot against a cybernetic power they're convinced is the Antichrist himself.  FIVE STAR RATING on Amazon.com!

Public Service Message: VOTE

"In four short years [George W. Bush] has turned our country from a prosperous nation at peace into a desperately indebted nation at war. But so what? He is the President of the United States, and you're not. Love it or leave it."

- Hunter S. Thompson

Vote, people. Go out and vote! Vote like your life depends on it. Because...

Yeah. Just do it.

Stephanie's Echo

This is a really old story which I'd recently updated and started sending out again. It found a home at Writer's Stories, an online magazine, and I just now discovered it's online and ready to read: Stephanie's Echo.

I've got another story (flash fiction, very short) coming out at Flash Me Magazine on October 31st.

The House Which Is White

My girlfriend is at a function at The White House today. Yes, THE White House, the one where the President lives. Is that cool or what?

She rocks.

Oh, I am no longer The Lone Ranger. My pal Al is back to work! Yeah! It's a big relief because otherwise today would have been total Hell.

13 days until I move out of The Cave and into The Treehouse.

Evil Shrunken Demon Heads!

Keep the Holy Water handy, kids, because they're here!

They're known as Water Caltrops; Horned Water Chestnus; Jesuit Nuts; Ling Kio; Ling Chio; Ling Kok; and Ling Jiao. All I know is when Lauren and I stumbed across these I thought someone had beheaded and dried a whole box of little demons. I bought these two, and after looking them up on the Internet, decided against eating them. Apparently if you don't steam or cook them well enough, they're toxic. Great.

The Lone Ranger

Gather 'round, pardners, and I'll tell ya a tale of a guy who's department consisted of only three people; your's truly, my pal Al, and our boss. Well, there came a time that Al was in extended hospital stay, and my boss went on vacation.

And that's how I came to be The Lone Ranger.

Yes siree bob, I am the loneliest digit-slinging cpu-poke in this whole wombat farm. And, of course, everyone wants my attention all at the same time.

Thank goodness for weekends.

Cute Little Honey Bee ... splat!

I have been at peace with the bees for years now, but the damn things have decided they love my van for some reason. Twice now I've left my van windows open, and twice now I've come back from lunching at The Cave to find the inside of the vehicle filled with bees.

Twice now I've been stung.

I am not friendly to bees anymore. They must die.

Evil in the Refrigerator

Are you prepared to see the most horrible, frightening thing in your life?

Get ready, because it's coming.

Lauren and I found them. They were so hideous, so completely awful, that there was no doubt in our minds what they were: 100% Evil. So I bagged them like evidence, brought them home, and am keeping them in my refrigerator until I have the nerve to photograph them.

Monty Python's Holy Ail

Okay, I saw this a few weeks ago at the local beer store and it made me start laughing like Beavis and Butthead:

Just got around to drinking it. Not bad.

Art That Sheds Light

After a nice weekend with my girlfriend, I arrived back at The Cave to discover two story acceptances sitting in my in box. My flash fiction piece "Heather's Claws" was accepted at Flash Me Magazine, and my SciFi story "Stephanie's Echo" was accepted at Writer's Stories Magazine. I'll provide links and everything when the stories actually come out.

No word back so far from Brutarian as to the fate of my hitman vs. ghost story, now that the editor split from the magazine and erased everything. The publisher sent out a notice for all authors to resubmit their accepted stories, and I did, but I haven't heard back and their website is still down. Damn. I had plans for that money, now I'm thinking that I'll never see it.

Oh well. Such is the way of the fiction publishing world.

I was at the Cottonwood Arts Festival today with my sweety, and we met Barbara Woods of Woodsilks Studio: www.woodsilks.com Barbara had on display some of the most beautiful lamps I have ever seen in my life. But, they were much less lamps, and more pure art. Art that sheds light. You simply have to visit the web site to see what I mean. Gorgeous artwork! Masterful!

Feeling The Squeeze Again

I feel sick.

Why? Because I just found out my medical insurance is going up $100 a month, AGAIN. It went from $86 to $186 between 2003 and 2004. Now, in 2005, it's going up to $286 a month.

My health insurance is making me sick, physically sick.

Now, that's irony.

UPDATE...

Okay, I don't feel so sick anymore. Later this morning I received a phone call from my apartment complex manager, asking if I were still interested in a smaller apartment.

Turns out one just opened up with a really nice view of the lake, and it's ... you guessed it ... $100 less a month.

My moving expenses: $27.95 (cost of moving Comcast cable from one apartment to the other). So, I signed the papers. I'm moving Halloween weekend.
